dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to explore the impact media has on the moral development of the youth. The study was guided by three specific objectives and these included; to understand the term media, to elucidate the term moral development and to examine the impact of media on youth moral development. The study employed used a correlation study design that was quantitative and descriptive in nature. The study used interview guides in its data collection and a sample size of 100 respondents were employed. From the findings, it was revealed Findings from the table above showed, on the question about what different kinds of media do you use/4.0% of the respondents said the use newspapers, 16.0% of the respondents said raio, 22.0% said internet. Further findings revealed that on the Time/week spent surfing the internet, 4.0 said 0-7 hrs, 16% said 7-14 hrs22.0% said 12-14 hrs. on the Time/week spent listening to radio 42.0 said 0-7, 18% said 7-14 .However findings in Table 2 show that there is a no significant relationship between media and moral development among the youth (p.5O7>O.Ol at r -.096). This means whatever type of media used by the youth; it aloes not impact on their moral development. The study recommended that Religious leaders in Uganda are so influential to the people they and. They command a lot of respect among the youth. So religious leaders should use their influence and encourage the youth through both church and mosque summons to only utilize the information from various media types to which they are exposed that is beneficial to their moral development. The youth these days use almost every media type from newspapers to Internet hence they are exposed to a lot of explicit information. If they are left by society especially parents and religious leaders, they are more likely to engage in antisocial behavior they imitate from characters on television and other media channels like the internet.en_US
