dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of teachers in relation to student's performance in chemistry in KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) in the selected secondary schools of Garissa district, north eastern province, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were; to determine the relationship between teacher experience and students' performance in chemistry, to investigate the relationship between teacher qualifications and student performance in chemistry, and to investigate the relationship between teacher motivation and students achievements in chemistry. The methods used for data collection were questionnaires to the teachers and interview guide to"the headmasters of the schools which participated in the study. Findings indicated that teacher experience, qualification of the teacher and the motivation of the teacher have a direct relationship with the performance of students of chemistry. Recommendations included Government making facilities at school for chemistry teachers lo teach in a conducive environment in order to aid the better performance of chemistry students in their schools and that government should make sure that it facilitates unqualified teachers lo go for further studies to improve the academic achievement of students in chemistry. | en_US |
