    This study looks at the Economic Background and Academic Performance of Selected Secondary Schools in Kazo Sub County Kiruhura District. The purpose of this research study was to critically examine the influence of home background in student’s performance in Kazo sub county Kiruhura District. The area of concentration in this research students are: home economic background, Life style of various social-economic classes, and Family size and students’ academic performance. This study was guided by three main objectives the general one To examine the impact of economic background on student performance in Kazo sub county Kiruhura District. Chapter two of this study included the work of other researchers who investigated on the impact of social-economic factors and its influence on student academic performance in Kazo Sub County. Chapter three of explained the methodology that the researcher used to carry out this research study. Chapter four and five included analysis, presentation and discussion of the study and the conclusion was that it is true that social economic factors really influences student academic performance.
